| ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANISATION
OF JAMIA ASHRAFIA |
JAMIA ASHRAFIA LAHORE is
an autonomous institution established in Sept. 1947, and functions
under the MEMORANDUM/ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION as laid down
by the founder members of the Anjuman & Management Committee
of JAMIA ASHRAFIA on 17th May 1954. The overall
control & management of JAMIA ASHRAFIA
LAHORE vests in the following bodies:
1. ADVISORY COUNCIL
The
Advisory Council of Jamia Ashrafia headed by Rais-ul-Jamia/Chancellor
keeps a watch on the policies of JAMIA ASHRAFIA to ensure
fulfillment of the Aims & Objectives permissible according
to Islamic, Shariah.
Only the individuals
of high academic caliber and of noble repute endowed with
missionary spirit to make contribution towards the noble cause
are nominated as members of the Advisory Council.
2. MANAGING COMMITTEE
The
Managing Committee is responsible for the overall management
and administration of the JAMIA. It has six members:
1. Maulana Obaidullah Al-Mufti - Chancellor
2.
Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi-Vice Chancellor
3. Maulana Hafiz Fazl-ur-Rahim- Pro Vice Chancellor
4.
Maulana Akram Kashmiri - Registrar
5. Maulana
Qari Arshad Obaid - Chief Administrator
6. Maulana Hafiz Ajwad Obaid-Controller of Exam.
The
Managing Committee has the following office-bearers.
1. President 2. Secretary 3. Finance Secretary
The
Chancellor/Raisul Jamia is
the PRESIDENT of the Managing Committee, and he can
exercise full executive powers on behalf of the Committee
unless otherwise restricted, in any way, by the Committee.
The
Registrar of the Jamia is the SECRETARY of the Managing Committee.
The Secretary calls the meeting of the committee, keeps the
record of the proceedings of the meetings, exercises general
supervision over Jamia Ashrafia, deals with policy matters
and carries on correspondence & work under the guidance
of the President.
The
Chief Administrator acts as the Finance Secretary. He maintains
and keeps accounts of Jamia Ashrafia in the manner prescribed
by the committee or directed by the President. All funds of
the Jamia are kept & deposited in a Bank approved by the
Committee.
POWERS
& DUTIES OF THE MANAGING COMMITTEE ARE AS UNDER:
(a) The Management and full control of the
affairs, functionaries, funds, assets and working of Jamia
Ashrafia is vested in the Managing Committee
(b) The Managing Committee is empowered to
delegate any of its powers to a sub-committee, or to an office
bearer or to a member.
(c) The Managing Committee is empowered to
fill in any vacancy in its ranks caused by death, resignation
or removal of an employee.
(d) The Managing Committee is empowered to
nominate or remove any member of the Advisory Council whose
conduct is considered detrimental to the interest of Jamia
Ashrafia.
(e) The Managing Committee has the power to
amend the Constitution, Rules and Regulations of Jamia Ashrafia
but it does not have the power to amend or vary the Aims and
Objectives.
(f) The Managing Committee is empowered to
frame bye-laws for the proper administration of Jamia Ashrafia.
3. ACADEMIC COMMITTEE
The Academic Committee comprises of
the Heads of all Academic Faculties of the JAMIA with Maulana Hafiz Fazl-ur-Rahim the Pro-Vice
Chancellor of the JAMIA as the CHAIRMAN/DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION.
This Committee takes perusal of the
curriculum of JAMIA,
the courses of studies, the books prescribed and the student/teacher
affairs etc. It ensures that the system of education in vogue
at the JAMIA is progressive
and is in conformity with the call of age, in order to produce
Islamic scholars fully conversant with the latest trends in
education the world-over.
This Committee keeps a vigilant watch
on the day-to-day teaching schedule, and holds occasional
meetings of the staff to deliberate upon measures for further
improvement of Academic affairs.
The Academic Committee supervises the
sessional and the annual Examinations conducted by the Examination
Branch headed by Maulana Qari Ajwad Obaid, the controller
of examinations.
The Academic Committee retains a close
liaison with the Board of WAFAQUL MADARIS to ensure implementation of the Board Policies
on Education & Examinations.
