In
appreciation of the utility of Information Technology for
expeditious receipt & transmission of knowledge, an elaborate
Computer Center named Ummul Qura Institute has been
established at the JAMIA
under the direction & patronage of Maulana Hafiz
Fazl-ur-Rahim.
The
Ummul Qura Institute comprising two Computer Labs with 75
computers, an Islamic Research Centre, a Library of books
& CDs, a class room, a Conference Room and offices was
inaugurated by the-then president of Pakistan on 29 November
1998. 1250 male & female scholars have so a qualified
various basic courses at this Institute.
Since
computer literacy is now included as a part of JAMIA’S curriculum, students of every grade
attend the computer classes at the Ummul Qura Institute
according to a notified time schedule.
The
Main Objectives of the Institute are as under: -
1. Utilization of
modern Information Technology (i.e. computer, Internet etc.)
for effective communication of the Islamic message to mankind
all over the world.
2. To plan a strategy
to counter & refute the anti-Islamic campaigns.
3.
To teach English as an international Language to Ulama
in order to equip them with faculty of direct study &
response to the modern approach towards life & religion.
4. Fundamental courses
of Computers inclusive of Urdu/Arabic Inpage, Internet, E-mail,
Web Page and study of Islamic & Anti Islamic Web Sites.
5. Critical study of the
available CDs on Qur’an, Ahadith & Islamic knowledge;
and preparation of new CDs with authenticated material from
acknowledged resources.
6. Prompt remittance of
replies of queries/references on Islamic faith & jurisprudence
to people all over the world by e-mail.
7. Establishment
of Islamic teaching Institutions in countries abroad, and
their supervision & guidance through e-mail.
8. Constitution of an
INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD consisting of Muslim
representatives of scholastic ability from various countries
of the world.
The
ACADEMIC
FACULTIES providing the requisite training/ instruction
at the Institute are as under: -
